Protists are simple eukaryotic organisms that are neighther animals, plants, nor fungi. They are unicellular in nature and can be found as a colony of cells. Most of them live in water, damp terrestrial environments or even as parasites.

Various methods are adapted by protists for their transportation purpose:

  • Cilia- Some protists use microscopic hair called cilia for transportation. These tiny hairs can flap together to help the organism move through water or other liquid.
  • Flagella- Other protists have along tail called flagella. This tail can move back and forth helping to propel the organism.

  • Pseudopodia- This is when the protist extends part of its cell body to scoot or ooze along. Amoebas use this method to move.

Someprotists are heterotrophic, some are phagocytic and some have structures such as penducle and pallium for eating etc...paramecium follows filter feeding mechanism.
