Why are repeats or returns attractive to programmers of channels ?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Repeats are part of well defined strategy as they are telecasted because of following reasons:

  • If no one watches something, then they don't broadcast it, simple, it's a waste of money otherwise.
  • They have measurements for viewing data for everything, so they know enough people are watching.
  • Repeats can be cheap original content is expensive, and if they don't think they can capture enough audience then they can just rerun a show to fill the gap and not pay for original content.
  • Sometimes they have an obligation to show a repeat as part of their rights agreement.

Example At present there is lockdown every where. In India, government decided to re telecast the famous Indian mythological epic named as ' Ramayana'. This made the record of the most watched TV show. This show helped people to fight this current adverse situation by providing them moral support and also helped broadcasters to earn huge profits.
