Label the cell cycle diagram using the discussion about cell cycle.
In the G1 phase the cell is metabolically active but does not go through DNA replication.
In the G0 phase it is the stage where cells do not undergo any more divisions and the stage where the cells are at rest.
G1/S checkpoint, this is considered as the first checkpoint and the cell will be limited from moving into the S phase if there is any unwanted damaged DNA.
G1-pre S phase where the cell begins to enter the synthesis phase of the cell cycle.
Synthesis phase also this is where the 2nd checkpoint or G2/M phase, this is characterized by the process of DNA replication, doubles the cell.
G2 phase, In this stage proteins are synthesized for mitosis while cell growth continues.
This is where the transition happens to the prophase stage or M phase, the cells don’t cross these checkpoints, until a damage is repaired.
During Metaphase, the chromosomes are aligned at the centre of the cell, attached to the centrosomes at the two poles.
While in the Anaphase stage, the mitotic spindle pulls the chromosomes from either side and the chromatids get separated.
This is the final stage which is called the Telophase stage, where a nuclear envelope forms around the chromosomes and the spindle fibres break down. Then, cytokinesis takes place and the cells are separated.
