After viewing "An Education in Equality" "Learning Begins at Home," "A Military Education," and "an Education," write an organized and well-supported essay in which you make three observations about education and what impacts (and enhances) student learning. Consider impacts and influences such as parenting, home life, society, race, technology, ethnicity, socioeconomics, etc. A well-organized essay has a beginning, middle, and an end. This is the type of essay where it pays off to be the type of person that is up to date on current event. If you aren't I would suggest the crash course method which is Youtube. As long as you are watching videos from credible sources such as news networks, news websites/papers it should be fine. Your instructions were to not include secondary sources in the essay. That's fine, you just want to give yourself some insight into the topic through other sources. In an essay like this I usually try to brainstorm. You can do it in your head but it is better on a piece of paper as a list. It's OK to speculate and contemplate some of these issues as long as it can be backed up with facts, and that is what your teacher wants to see on an essay. I will give you a couple of examples to point you in the right direction.
Home life: It's often been said that children who have a volatile home life are prone to doing poorly at school. So you might want to think about is parents fighting causing the child emotional distress to where they can't concentrate. Maybe family finances are as such that the child doesn't have 3 meals a day which affects their ability to perform well, or they don't have decent clothes which causes their mind to be on embarrassment rather than performing well in school.
So do you see how that is done? You take the fact (Children who have a volatile home life are prone to doing poorly at school.) and then your brainstorm all the possible ways that that can affect their school life. The final step would be to back up what you say by finding facts that help your argument in what ever sources your teacher is allowing for this essay.
