You have probably noticed that some groups to which you have belonged were able to get a task done very effectively, while other groups seemed to lack direction and purpose. When you think about it, you can probably attribute much of the group’s effectiveness to the leader’s decision-making style. For this Discussion, you will have a chance to assess on your own leadership style as well as to reflect on the one under which you feel that you do your best work.

Leadership Styles

Leaders are available to provide guidance and required resources to the followers when it is required. One of the leadership style in an organization is laissez-faire leadership this type of leadership include use minimum directing and coordination by managers. There is less time for face to face between the mangers and the employees. This style can be used when the firm have efficient and well trained supervisors who can work as intercessors between the manager and the employees.

Example: My current manager is a typical epitome of Laissez-faire leadership. He is very supportive and cooperative Whenever any employee has any issue, the manager always help him with a smile and once the issue is solved, he takes a feedback about the process and thus it inculcates the confidence in the employee.

It is a really excellent way of managing people in my organization as people have expertise and experience of doing things, they only need a support and direction. We all feel quite motivated and enthusiastic about the job as we have thee assurance that our manager will always support us if we have some issue in doing the job.

The second style is autocratic leadership. This is a leadership style where the leader remain to be the boss he or she controls everything in the firm. The manager makes the decision alone without involving the other employee. This method of leadership have become outdated because it’s less inclusive.

The third method of leadership is participative leadership.in this style each employee in an organization has a chance to contribute during decision making process. This system makes it possible to tap employee creativity and makes the workers to think independently.

The best leadership style is participative leadership.it is also known as democratic leadership method. The method encourage workers discussion and trust in decision-making through consensus. The process promote creativity and teamwork. The leadership style makes employee feels very comfortable in the organization because they are given chance to participate in decision making.

The autocratic leadership style did not work well for me when I attended my attachment in Ridge food processing unit because I was not given a chance to express my ideas.

I would use participative leadership style where every employee has a chance to express his or her views. The leadership style enable the employees to be open minded and contributed during decision making process.

I acted in this leadership style when I was the chairperson of Golf Club Ridgeview School. Each member of the club was given a chance to contribute his or her ideas during decision making process. The leadership style lead to the success of the club.
