Our mind functions almost mimics like that of a computer where information are received, organized, stored and retrieved when required. Just like handling with documents in my personal laptop, I used to study my syllabus in classrooms. Our senses are the input devices of the information, where all what matters is focus. Distraction from the subject matter bias the clarity of information received. The information grasped automatically gets transferred to our short term memory, where I use to sort out things which has to be transferred to long-term memory. This primary filtration helps in memorizing only what we need to retrieve in a later period, thereby clearing the overload on mind.

How to transfer the things to long term memory is a tedious task especially in cases like pro-active interference where lot of techniques like visualizing the information, using acronyms and mnemonics, chaining technique etc are used. The first two techniques mentioned helps a lot in long term memorizing, whereas the third one, chaining technique often failed, as it found difficult to remember both the subject matter as well as story created and the points which link them. There would be much data loss while transferring the data from short term memory, once the story is more complicated than the subject matter.

Chunking method of clubbing things into group often helps in recollecting things. Learning by doing, re-visiting things studied etc helps in overcoming conditions like retroactive interference. Apart from all these adequate sleep, healthy food habits, meditations etc helps in improving memory.
