Mirror neurons are the biological basis of observational learning. Mirror neurons fire when an individual/animal acts or sees someone else performing the same activity. These neurons mirror the actions of others, hence, are called mirror neurons. Other parts that are involved in imitation of a behaviour are medial forebrain and ventral tegmentum.
Violent media should be banned strictly. Specially children and adolescents are more prone to imitation of all kinds of behaviour. Researches have found that early, middle and late childhood students encode and store social events in their memory through observation of their family, peer group, mass media behaviour (Rizzolati, 1996). Violent media exposure increases aggression. Boys and girls who watched television violence were reportedly more aggressive as compared to those who were not exposed to violent media (Huesmann,1998). Another research showed that young children who watched violent TV contents on a regular basis, became more aggressive adults (Huesmann, 2003).
