An observation study is the result of researchers finding a sample and conducting measurements in observation, without activity treating (or doing something to) the sample. Observational studies are classified into two types they are cohort studies and case-control studies
An epidemiological study is one kind of observational study, in which the data was analyzed at various levels namely at the population or group level, rather than individual level.
In an observational study, the epidemiologist simply observes the exposure and disease status of each study participant. These kinds of studies are used to measure incidence and prevalence of a disease. Observational studies are inexpensive and easy to carry out, using routinely collected data, but they are prone to bias and confounding. By using observational study in the felid of epidemiology the sample inference was drawn from the sample. There is no human intervention in observational study. In observational study, the researcher simply makes an observation and arrives at a conclusion, So in the field of epidemiology conducting observational studies is necessary.
