Just looking for guidance on what type of test to run and why 2. A biomechanist compare the effects of osteoarthritis on the gait of three age groups: young-18-35, middle-36-55, and elderly-56 and over. He measured the ground reaction forces (forces made on the ground during walking) on the three age groups. He also measured the walking velocity during the tests. He knows that the walking velocity affects the magnitude of the ground reaction force. What type of statistical test the researcher needs to run to take away this effect? Be specific. Run the appropriate analysis, and determine and explain the results using the SPSS output.
We use chi-square test to comare the effects of osteosrthritis on the gait of three age group.
because we compare the two attributes in this test , one is age group (i.e)the no. of person belongs to the age group (young, middle and high), second one is effects of osteoaritis. (i.e)low, medium anh high level.
Hypotheses:
Null hypothesis: There is no association between the effects of osteosrthritis on the gait of different age group.
Alternative hypothesis: There is association between the effects of osteosrthritis on the gait of different age group.
example:
step1: Type the data like this in SPSS in data view
step2: define the variable in variable view
step3: go to ananyze and select descriptive statistics, then select croos table
step4: send the variable to the pan, select statistics in crosstable and choose chi-square then click OK
finally we get out put like this from this test we conclude that significant value is less than p value 0.05 . So we reject null hypothisis for this example hence we conclude that there is some association between the effects of osteosrthritis on the gait of different age group.
