Expert Solution

YES,if you have a comprehensive auto insurance, car insurance is covered. In almost all cases the shopping cart damage is covered under Comprehensive Insurance.

In such typical situations, the store cannot be held responsible for the way in which people handle the shopping cart. The comprehensive insurance is designed to cover such situations; such as ;damages caused by unknown people, falling or uncontrolled objects, natural disasters, theft, etc.

Well filing an insurance claim always is not worth it. As in most of the time, the damage caused to your vehicle will not be of extensive nature. It means that the amount deductible by your insurance claim will be higher than your repair cost. In such a case, it would be better to repair bill out of your own pocket and save your insurance claim for a more expensive event.Comprehensive insurance is a type of liability claim where there is no named individual at fault.

So in short these types of incidents are covered under comprehensive insurance. It is treated in the same manner as a tree falling on your car or hitting a wild animal. However ,its not in best interest to claim insurance as the damage to your car will be of minor nature. So in such case its better to pay out of own pocket and utilise the insurance claim for better damage recovery options.
