How would the answers differ if the same charge was placed on a thin hollow metal SHELL instead of a solid metal sphere?
The answers would be the SAME OUTSIDE the shell, but there would now be an electric field INSIDE the shell. |
All the answers would be SMALLER compared to the solid sphere. |
The electric field would be ZERO OUTSIDE the shell, and there would be an electric field INSIDE the hollow shell. |
All answers would be the SAME. |
All the answers would be the SAME MAGNITUDE but OPPOSITE SIGN compared to the solid sphere. |
For sperical sphere: Electric field exists inside as well outside of sphere
For Hollow sphere(shell): Electrical field exists only outside of the shell. Inside the shell it will be zero.
The electrical field will be the same outside the shell for both spheres if both contain the same charge.
