It is a challenging task for an organization to change its culture. The reason behind that is, changing organizational culture requires setting of goals, roles processes, values, communication practices, attitudes and assumptions.
Changing an organizational culture requires all of organizational tools for changing mind. The most successful strategy includes the involvement of leadership tools, management tools, and power tools. The mistakes which are generally observed in a change process are:
-under utilization of leadership tools and overuse of power tools.
-starting with a story or vision, but failing to put in place the management tools.
-beginning with power tools before using leadership or management tools.
For a successful implementation of organizational change following steps should be taken:
-come with a clear vision where the organization needs to be directed with the help of storytelling.
-identify the core stakeholders.
-define the role of managers as enablers of self organizing team.
-quickly develop and put in place new systems and processes which support the future vision.
-introduce values of continuous improvement.
-communicate horizontally in conversations.
-clarify the vision first, and then put in place the management roles.
-work with the existing managers and draw on people who support the organization's vision.
