Find a possible formula for the trigonometric function whose
values are in the following table.
x | 0 | 2 | 4 | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
y | 8 | 2 | -4 | 2 | 8 | 2 | -4 |
y =
With the help of given table first we plot the graph between x and y then by observation we find the graph similar to cosine graph with vertical translation 2 units , amplitude of 6 units and an interval of 8 units with no horizontal translation.
Hence the required trignometric function is y=6 cos(πx/4) + 2
