What is the purpose of prison: is it meant to be retributive or is it meant to be rehabilitative? What quality of care (e.g., in terms of food, exercise, activities, programming, health care) should prisons provide? Defend your answer. " Please type response due to me not understanding some writing." Thanks
The purpose of the prison is meant for both the Retributive and Rehabilitative as well. It purely depends upon the seriousness of Crime the convicted has performed.
If the level of crime is minimal and being performed for the first time by the convicted then the Tenure of Punishment will be less as they want the person to stop indulging in such acts in the upcoming future. And this might be enough for them as a sign of warning.
But if the Level of Crime is very high and the person involved in this case has been arrested in the past as well then the tenure of Punishment will definitely be very long. maybe Lifetimes imprisonment as well. This come's under retributive aspect.
The quality of care needs to be good because although they all are Humans. They need proper medication,Quality food, A slot of Daily exercise for keeping their body fit. Regular activities so that they can learn something new as well in their tenure of Imprisonment. These kind of approaches (Indulging them with different activities) have a moderate effect on most of prisonners as they learn something new.
