The current pandemic has sent shivers across the globe and
industries irrespective of their nature are grappling with the
challenges posed by this novel coronavirus. One thing is for sure
and that is office would not be like we are used to and we might
see drastic technological investment made by companies to reduce
disease transmission. Following are some of the possible changes
that telecommunication companies should invest in so as to
encourage virtual work:
- Investment in Videotelephony and live chat services will see a
dramatic increase. Telecommunication companies in order to fully
implement the virtual office network may need to go beyond Zoom,
Hangouts, and Slack in order to remain connected with the
stakeholders so as to avoid any alignment problem. Companies should
heavily invest in the high-end video conferencing tools.
- Development of project management tools that will help
companies to keep a track of how smoothly the project is being
executed and the need for task assignments and schedules.
- Effective collaboration will hold a key in the successful
telcos are in the virtual office type of work. This would require
working on real-time documents which are continuously changing.
Companies may be extensively using Google Sheets, Google Docs, and
tools like Scribblar.
- Investment in artificial intelligence and Machine learning will
help telecommunication problems do more without having any chaos.
Telecommunications may use powerful AI and Machine learning in
areas like customer service, virtual assistants in order to give
instant service.
- In order to make a successful change and all-encompassing for
employees, it would require investing in technologies like Virtual
Reality and Simulation in the areas of training and development,
orientation, process knowledge, etc.
- Making sure that employees have high-speed internet and
connectivity has always been a successful mantra for high
performing virtual teams so as to make sure that employees though
far away remain closely aligned.
- Investment in technologies that ensure privacy will be a trend
in the work from home as the recent controversy over the Zoom has
exposed the validity of these third-party apps. Employees and other
stakeholders will be wary of signing anything on the web if they
don't feel their privacy is taken care of by their
organization.
