  • I have witnessed bullying in schoo, where one of my class mates was teased almost everyday related to the way he spoke.Seniors especially made fun of his stammering and bullied him everyday, which eventually took a toll on him and he stopped coming to school.Initially,me and my classmated told him to complain to the teachers, but he didnt out of fear.Once,he stopped coming to school and remained absent for a week,me and my classmated to address the issue and talk with the authorities. We complained and explained the problem, the authority was helpful and took notice and called his parents.
  • The seniors were reprimanded and also put into counseling,as well as my friend was put into counseling which worked for him.And since we as his classmates and friends along with his parents, supported him,I guess he became stronger and less scared.
  • Social and emotional support is really important to handle the psychological effects of bullying.Parents and teachers, should never ignore even the slightest hint in the child's behaviour. For instance,he stopped talking, which made his parents worry and address the problem with him, they never neglected it and therefore,he was able to come out of it.Parents needs to be involved with their children and provide supoort and understanding by encouraging friendliness and open communication in the relationship. As a parent, the issue should be immediately taken into consideration and discussed with the school authorities to take action and make sure it doesnt happen again.Parents can work witht the school,to organize programs on ati-bullying,discussing the issue and the after effects of it.
  • Parents can also work with the counselors in school,to develop strategies and understand the psychology behind bullying as well as how to deal with the child.
