write a couple of paragraphs about black lives matter and how that is related to ethics and moral of Socrates. Also what is right and wrong with the protest? how people are reacting?
One of the most important conflicts in the US is the racial inequality and domination which has led to the incarceration and death of many innocent black people. Throughout history, white majority dominated and kept the black people under their control as slaves and unequal. Although law has provided freedom, liberty, equality and equal treatment, the society which consists of majority white is not able to accept it. Systematic racism discriminates people of color from education, employment, housing, healthcare, criminal justice etc. This would mean that more black people are targeted for crimes and they are killed without any imminent threat to the officers in question. This unjust killing s have sparked a controversy and even the white people have joined hands with the black people in their fight against injustice through the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement.
Socrates urges people to consider knowledge and wisdom before their self-interests by suggesting that an unexamined life is not worth living. This would mean that people should base their morality in their knowledge and wisdom which they gain through experience and not based on their racial views. Although these movements at times engage in violent acts if forced by the police, they are the need of the hour because if not now, then when. White people today should overcome their racial superiority mindset and join hands with all the other people in the society to promote a healthy society where justice, equality and fairness would be same for every citizen in the country just as the founding fathers have envisioned.
