Research to identify different virtualization platforms. Provide a discussion of any resources that you find or of the advantages of one over another (pros and cons, for instance of using VMWare vs. Virtualbox). Virtualization is one of the biggest boon to the IT industries, due to its advantages, it is being widely preferred over physical servers. Many vendors have come up with their own virtualization platforms:

• VMware workstation
• Oracle Virtual Box
• Microsoft Hyper-V
• Linux KVM

Out of these virtual platforms VMware workstation and Oracle virtual box is widely preferred. They both have pros and cons.

Pros of VMware:

• Network connection can be established easily and each vms can be a part of lan
• Mounting images: images can be mounted easily and using that image we can get the same vm in different workstation.

Cons:

• User interface is bit difficult to handle and many times vms gets crashed.
• More customisation of the VMs can be a drawback in this vmware workstation.

Pros of Oracle virtual box:

• It is open source and installation is quite simple, there is no such advanced knowledge is required.
• It also enables easy portability by moving vms from one host to another.

Cons:

• Compatibility issue: there are times, where you can see compatibility issue while configuring a vm with new OS.
• Since this is no support provided by Oracle as it is a open source product. If something goes wrong, you have to fix it by yourself.

If you go through the video link of youtube, you will find which of the virtual environment is actually good for business. The first thing is both are user fiendly by working with workstation feels like it is easy to use. Vmware is licensed based and hence it will cost money whereas virtual box is open source and free to use that problem lies with that is incase of any fault Oracle will not provide support to resolve the issue. So according to me Vmware workstation may be the best choice.
