I would like for each of you to discuss at least four influence tactics that you are particularly gifted in employing when leading change. Why are you drawn to these tactics and what do you think makes them effective. Changing gears a little, when you are on the receiving end of influence tactics, which four tactics are you particularly receptive to and why? Provide some examples with your responses.

As the query is not specific to any particular industry, I have taken Service industry in general and shared my views.

Influence Tactics for change:

The actions taken by using one's power on other individuals to bring a change in current scenario. These kind of tactics mostly used in work place.

Below are the tactics influenced by the managers to subordinates;

1. Rational persuasion- A person have some power or being an expert in the relevant field makes other individual to follow his footprints without having a second thought.

2. Ingratiating- the manager targets one individual who is ready to work as per his words and makes him to do his favours accordingly.

3. Consultation- a person asks the other person for help in order to complete the given project by keeping in view that rewards or points for the work will be shared as per their individual contribution. In such a way, change happened in one's productivity and managing time to complete the given project.

4. Appraising-the manager conducts performance reviews for the subordinates to identify his strengths& weaknesses. This makes the employer gives rating and influence the subordinates for the betterment of himself as well as the company.

Few influence tactics in which an individual ready to change;

1. Compliance- employees in service industry must follow the compliance policy and procedure as per the terms and conditions of the firm. This shows that employees are open to follow compliance policy to safe guard their employment in that particular firm.

2. Personal appeals- When a subordinate is loyal or trustworthy to the manager, he/she can get a help like being referred while making a request to the top management.

3. Exchange- a person will get benefited in terms of offer or rewards if some requests from superiors are completed on time. This in turn improves the efficiency and productivity of the individual.

4. Consultation- here the subordinates are given an opportunity to be a part of decision making so that he comes forward and find a way to complete the given project.
