PEACE |
The fundamental goal of Buddhism is peace, not only peace in this world but peace in all worlds. The Buddha taught that the first step on the path to peace is understanding the causality of peace. When we understand what causes peace, we know where to direct our efforts. In other words, we can take many actions in our quest for peace that may be helpful. But if we do not first address the fundamental issues, all other actions will come to naught. |
Peace is a central value within Judaism. Peace is held out as the most desirable of social norms, the ideal state to which all human social action must be geared. Spokespersons of Judaism argue that violence is justified for self-protection and for the maintenance of political order, but a ruler should seek a peaceful resolution before engaging in military action. |
This view says that the aim of Christianity is to promote a world in which peace and justice flourish everywhere: war may sometimes be the tool needed to do this, and waging war may sometimes be a lesser evil (a lesser injustice) than allowing injustice to persist or tolerating the victimisation of innocent people. |
JUSTICE |
The Buddhist approach to Justice begins with individual behaviour. The moral Law of Karma, is the core of Buddhism. The Moral Law of Karma describes that good actions generates positive consequences while bad actions generates negative consequences. According to the Buddha, as human beings we make choices (karma) that have consequences. If these choices are informed by wisdom and compassion, the outcome will be happiness; if they are informed by greed, hatred, and delusion, the outcome will be suffering |
According to Judaism, justice and compassion to be the sine qua non of any true religiosity. One cannot claim to love God and not be passionate about justice. That is the primary Jewish contribution to the human spirit. |
According to Christianity views on Justice, everyone should be treated equally and with respect. Moreover, Christianity also tells us that we should not judge our neighbours, as we are not different from them. |
