Protective factors refers to the resources, strengths and support through families, society and other institutions that helps people live a happy life and that which help people overcome their stressful events and risks. This could be from the parents to children, teachers to students, government to citizens etc. People who have protective factors develop into complete human beings in terms of physical, mental and emotional and others who do not have protective factors might end up in substance abuse, alcohol addiction and loneliness. Parents who have these protective factors overcome their stressful life and get enough guidance in terms of growing as resilient parents and making the resources and help available for parents and their children who struggle economically and emotionally.
Effective family engagement builds the family and children relationship by associating with the parents, teachers, family engagements specialists and school and government administration to build trust, authenticity, positive relationships, enrich knowledge, empowerment, support each other and create a welcoming environment. It helps the teachers and parents set goals for the children in a collaborative manner thus extending the communication thus keeping in touch. Helps parents engage their children in early childhood programs thus facilitating learning right from the young age.
Charity begins at home and children’s early character and attitudes are developed at home. Parents thus act as the first teachers for their kids. Children imitate and observe their parents and does almost everything like them because they consider their parents as their world. They teach them the social skills, they introduce the world around them, they teach them to respect others etc. Parents who spend time with their children will nurture the learning but parents who ignore them while the children want them the most will see their children grow indifferently.
