Many people have very active social media lives, and it is now quite common for potential employers to do a "social media check" when interviewing job candidates.
What do you think of this practice? Should employers be doing this? Are people far to careless about what they post on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets? Please share your thoughts.
The world has progressed to a great extent in terms of technology but it has also caused more trouble for employees worldwide. What was considered a blessing once has also become a trouble for people. Today, they are being spied not just at their workplace but also in their private spaces both while considering for a job and after getting a job. Companies want to keep their brand name from being damaged by their employees because when an employee makes a post that sparks controversy, it would damage the name of the company. However, this spying of the employees or prospective employees could also be considered as an intrusion to people’s private life. People get paid for whatever job they do at their workplace and the relationship should end there but the extension of this intrusion beyond the workspace would only affect the quality of personal life of the employees. It would limit them from freely executing their individual rights.
