Sexual dysfunction is an umbrella term for a number of factors which can create problems or hindrance during any phase of the sexual response cycle for a human being which can prevent them from experiencing satisfaction. Although, physical factors are one of the most common factors which influence sexual dysfunction; which is usually caused because of an injury, biological failure of development or excessive intake of alcohol or other substance abuse; it must be noticed that psychological and sociological factors also play an important role in the onset of the dysfunction. One of the leading psychological causes of sexual dysfunction is performance anxiety which prevails either due to high expectations from one’s sexual abilities or by comparison to the abilities of individuals whom the individual perceives as the ideal, for instance an adult artist. Many times, individuals feel an unconscious pressure performing in front of certain people because they may perceive the other person more deserving of what they have to offer. It is clear that these conditions are variable and means that if the partner or situation changes, so will the performance.
