Be able to calculate the amount of solute (mass or moles) when given the molarity of solution and the volume of solution.
Be able to calculate the volume of solution when given the molarity of solution and the amount solute (mass or moles).
Solution :-
Be able to calculate the amount of solute when given the ppm or ppb concentrations and the amount of solution or solvent.
Ppm is parts per millon
1 ppm = 1 mg solute per L or 1 mg per Kg
Therefore the formula to calculate the is as follows
ppm = mg of solute / L solution
Or ppm = mg of solute / kg solution
Ppb is the parts per billion that’s is microgram of solute per L or per kg
Therefore formula to calculate the ppb is as follows
ppb = microgram of solute / L solution
or ppb = microgram of solute / kg solution
Be able to calculate the molarity of a solution when given the mass or moles of solute and the volume of solution.
Molarity is moles per liter of solution
Therefore formula to calculate the molarity is as follows
Molarity = moles of solute / volume of solution in Liter
Be able to calculate the amount of solute (mass or moles) when given the molarity of solution and the volume of solution.
When we have to find the amount of the solute using the molarity and volume then we can use the formula
Moles = molarity * volume in liter
Once we get moles
Then we can use the following formula to calculate the amount of the solute
Mass = moles of solute * molar mass of solute
Be able to calculate the volume of solution when given the molarity of solution and the amount solute (mass or moles).
When we have to find the volume of solution using the molarity of solution then we can use the following formula
Volume of solution in Liter = moles of solute / molarity of solution
When mass of solute is given then convert mass of solute to its moles using the formula as follows
Moles = mass of solute in gram / molar mass of solute
Then once we get moles of the solute then again we can use the formula
Volume of solution in Liter = moles of solute / molarity of solution
To calculate the volume of the solution
