Proponents and opponents explain their views of paying student atheletes .The arguments given that college atheletes should not be paid are that 1)Education is money.Life time earnings of those with a college degree are $1 million more than non graduates. The National Atheletic Collegiate Association fears that the paying college athetes undermines the primary purpose of the university which is education ,and is more valuable than paying an annual stipend .2) Payments to athletes poses problems-the issues being how much should athletes get paid and should athletes be paid on their performance . 3) The university provides more than education-Colleges are areas of learning and socializing and provides variety of facilities like concerts, lectures etc  free to a full scolarship athelete.4)The athlete department plays a role-Paying atheletes would create a disparity because very few universities make money from sports programs .

The arguments that college athletes should be paid are 1)Atheletic scholarship include free education is not correct --Scholarship given to athletes may be between $30,000 to $200,000 but the full cost of education is more than that .So student athletes should be paid.2)Exploitation of athlete-Athletes are dominated , managed and controlled and do not get wages according to their contribution as compared to the dollars received by the university.3) Athletes are not aware of the real deal that is made -- Athletes do not know that their scholarship is not guaranteed and can be terminated anytime.Student atheletes are given the assurance that they will get a college degree which may not be true.4) University offers more than education - Athletes may not be able to avail such facilities due to being focused in sport and as a result had to give time to practice sessions ,weight training sessions etc.

I believe student athletes should be paid as student athletes bring in revenue for their team and college or university in their championship games but receive only a small portion of the profit..Student athelete's names are used by colleges for advertisements and colleges earn huge revenue but student athletes do not receive anything.  They miss classes and are absent for nationally televised games which brings  a lot of money and also get lots of viewers.Universities with more succesful teams get more television time and money than other less successful team.
