Define and defend your own position on the University of Texas/Texas A& M admissions policy of granting admission to the Top 7-8% of students from Texas High Schools.
There is a top 10% rule in the state of Texas that is also formed into a law in 1997 that top 10% of the high school students to get automatic admission to the state funded universities. The policy of granting admission to top 7 to 8%, students from high schools from Texas, is also based upon the top 10% rule and it helps the university of Texas to identify the best talent and the students who really deserve the full support of the university and have the best of ability to innovate, research and or contribute meaningfully towards the development of human kind & economy.
Hence, My argument in support for
the policy is that, it helps to identify the best talent without
any discrimination and provide best of facilities to deliver the
results. It also makes university to make optimum investments on
selected students and help them realize their dream. It prevents
waste of resources and building a force of university pass outs
with average abilities. So, it is a fair policy by the
university.
