Choking is a commonly misunderstood phenomenon in sports. To fully understand this concept it can be helpful to consider a time when you have failed to perform up to your standards. However, before you do that please read the following article:
Podium Sports Journal: Choking: What is it and How to Avoid it
Now that you have a better understanding of choking please go to the discussion board and discuss the following questions:
yes, i agree with the definition of choking that is presented in the article because it defines choking as a failure to prepare for the success, when a person is affected by any environmental, situational or psychological factors that lead to failure in an big winning event that is known as choke and it tries to fade the myth which was created by the earlier definition of choking which says that any failure in big winning event is choking. from my point of view also choking plays a role way before outcome of the event, when a person is not fully prepared or anxious or not relaxed or not confident enough, then the person gets choked, which is also clearly defined in the article.
once i choked during my first performance of open mic poetry competition , i fumbled a lot during my performance which made me to loose that competition which otherwise i could have won because other participants poetries were not good enough content wise in accordance to mine.
i could have practiced more in front of everyone before my performance as that would have decreased my stage fear and i would have been more confident and relaxed,
