How do age stereotypes and intergenerational social interactions shape the quality of life in older adults?

Ageism has a negative effect on the adults as they are discriminated against in many ways . The intergenerational interaction results in many negative effects on the adults and they struggle to live with the everyday chinaign society .This is both individual and institutional. Below are the problems faced by adults due to ageism .

• Discrimination in everyday life - Age sterotypes lead to discrimination on the basis of age .Adult people are often dicriminated and told thta they are slow and forgetfull beucase of their age. This is the most common stereotype which is present in the society
• Lack of employment opportunities - Ageism leads to disorientation in the job market . Most companies prefer younger employees because they are seen as more skilled and efficient .
• Isolation - Ageism leads to isolation and depression in adults as they are mostly ignored and the intergenerational interaction is very less because of the stereotypes.
• Seen as a liability- Adults are seen as a liability in the old age .As most of them they are seen as less skilled individuals who have no knowledge of technology and are bad at handling technology .
