CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility is the responsibility of the corporates towards the betterment of the society. As the corporates are causing harm to the society in the form of pollutants emitted, and extracting the natural resources, so out of guilt feeling corporates are extending help towards the society. This is especially true and applicable in gaming / gambling industry where so many people lose money and it is like committing a crime. So in order to come out of the guilt feeling, Macau gaming industry has implemented CSR activities.
As most of the gamblers are not from Macau, but from Mainland China, so the CSR activities for the betterment of the society are directed towards the Mainlanad China. The money is donated in the form of heavy taxes paid by gambling industry. Almost 40% of the revenue earned by gaming industry is paid as taxes to the government. This tax paid is being used by government for building schools and hospitals. Thus the Macau gaming industry comes out of the guilt feeling as they contribute towards building better infrastructure and social development facilities in Mainland China.
