what are the impacts of sexual promiscuity and sexual exploration on the developmental process at this time frame?
Youth who initiate sexual intercourse in early teenage years, from the age of 11 to 14, experience several hazards, including parallel adjustment complications and unsafe sexual practices. The initialization of sexual activity turns out to be an imperative milestone for the youngsters, and this comes with a variety of risk factors. School maladjustment, substance abuse, sexually transmitted diseases, girls facing unwanted pregnancies, are to name just a few. Sexual promiscuity brings with it a myriad of issues and negatively impacts the developmental process of teenagers and adults alike. To be stable and emotionally involved with one partner is safer, healthier for the mind and body rather than be promiscuous and face unnecessary complications. Relationships are better than one-night stands, as you at least are somewhat aware of what you are getting into.
Sexual exploration occurs in adolescence. As children start to encounter puberty, it turns out to be a landmark stage in an adolescent’s life, wherein they embark on sexuality. They indulge in different behavior experimentation in early adolescence, then they start taking risks in middle adolescence. By the time they reach late adolescence, they assess their own risk taking. During late adolescence, they also develop a sense of identity, they do more social involvement, they develop an interest for sex and they encourage more peer interaction. Other factors in developed and fast developing countries such as migration, education, urbanization, independence, and a mixing of different cultures is also having a serious impact on sexuality and how the youth perceive this term today.
Other factors like biological factors which are genetic and neuro-endocrinal ( the appearance and sex of a person ) , Physiological factors, (like temperament and attitude of a person towards sex) like personality, and social factors like parenting style, peer relationships, the parents views on sexuality, cultural influences, all put together help make the adolescent decide on how to treat sexuality. There are so many other factors that also influence an adolescents decisions on sexuality like moral values, ethics, philosophical, legal, political, spiritual influences, etc. So the developmental processes are certainly affected by sexual promiscuity and sexual exploration in today’s time in a significant manner.
