". . .ethnic entrepreneurship is a set of connections and regular patterns of interaction among people sharing common national background or migration experiences” (Waldinger, Aldrich, and Ward 1990, p. 3).
Based on the above definition you are assigned to develop a sales pitch introducing a new ethnic product of your culture in another country's market place.
We started our Bamboo business from hometown , where their is an abundance of crop we are dealing with.
I am from India and i have lived in the neighbouring countries like Sri-Lanka and Bangladesh for years. As the climate is mostly the same as my native place, i certainly know the demand of Bamboo products over there.
The inspiration to sell products made of Bamboo came from my ancestral culture of making useful and beautiful things from bamboo and use it for daily purposes.
There are plethora of items which can be made like Beer, Clothes,Floor, toothbrushes, Surfboards, Medicines, Kitchenware, Artifects. These items have a huge market in the countries i want to sell my product. As, i already have my own production of bamboo, I wanted to learn the art of marketing and research which could make my products to have add on values.
When i was starting up, I contacted few of my potential contractors who could help me manufacture and sell my product. I started with the cheaper products where the product cost was minimal but to produce things like surfing boards and Floors made up of Bamboo , we consulted for Govt Loan which are given to budding entrepreneurs for financial support. I have been successful in marketing my product as cheap alternative to a lot many things and in fact it's natural too. So my target clients from other countries tend to be like the idea behind it and i have gained major contacts in the marketplace.
