What are the principles to be followed while designing an
effective mentoring program in
organisations? Answer in 250-300 words.
What is mentoring programme?
A mentoring programme is a tailor-made program in which mentor (experienced) are assigned for the development of mentee (less experienced), which also leads to the development of the mentor as well.
What is the purpose for mentoring programme?
(For the mentor) To develop leadership skills, knowledge, communication, self-worth.
(For the mentee) To learn the organization process , direction, , soft skills as well as hard skills.
(For the organization) To build reputation among competitors, new employees , workplace a better environment , to reduce waste, improve the productivity. Principles to be followed -
1. Design the parameters for the mentoring program – The first principle is about giving parameters to the mentoring programme like - What type of mentoring will be offered, where mentoring will be done, how many mentees will be entertained. The first principles include age, gender, etc.
2. Identify the types of individuals will be recruited as mentors – The second principle is to identify the population of people we wish to determine as mentors. They can be senior citizens , young citizens, skillfull people, educated. etc
3. Determine the type of mentoring for the program – It includes the mentoring types of mentors are required In this the best experienced mentors will be recruited (Group, Traditional, Team ,E – Mentoring , Peer, etc).
4. Structure the mentoring program – Now mentoring programmes will be identified, in which nature of structure is defined.
5. Select the management Team - The best management team is selected to supervise the program, they will organize all the meeting events between mentors and mentees.
6. Evaluate the mentoring program – Now the program is to be checked and evaluated by the management team.
