Expert Solution

An example of when I might be asked to put a workbook together that would involve multiple peoples input would be when I am making a salary record.

-This would involve fields such as Name of the employee, telephone no., Number of leaves availed by each employee, details of pay scale, deposit in provident fund, TDS deducted, etc.

- The edits I would only want certain groups/people to make would be:

  • The Human resource department could make changes in fields such as Name of the employee, telephone no., Number of leaves availed by each employee, details of pay scale, deposit in provident fund, TDS deducted, etc. in order to timely update the record as well as keep the work going smoothly.
  • The employees and other people in the organisation should not be allowed to alter any of the other details.

- The reason why only selective modifications shall allowed to be made is:

  • To not compromise with the confidentiality of data, such as Phone no., Taxpayer identification number, pay scale of employees, tax deducted , etc. All these details should remain private.
  • To not compromise with the integrity of data, such as pay scale of employees, tax deducted, number of leaves availed , etc. All these details should remain unaccessible otherwise the data can be manipulated andby decreasing the amount of tax to be deducted or no. of leaves availed by an employee or increasing his pay scale, the company might ending the employee(s) a sum more than what they are entitled to. This can even lead to a dent in the company's balance sheet.
