Why is artificial intelligence bad for our future?

Expert Solution

There has always been a controversy surrounding artificial intelligence: whether it is good or bad for the future.

Since this is asked in the context of civil engineering, the following are the cons of artificial intelligence in the field:

-It is a disruptive technology and has the capability of a major loss of employment in engineering if artificial planning and execution is brought into effect.

- even though AI in planning of structures is fast and efficient, but various factors to be considered based on decion making and prediction which requires experience cannot be done easily.

- AI does not consider the ethical factors in planning and execution of projects.

-The scheduling may have to be done considering various external factors which the AI is not yet developed to do.

- Any miscalculation may cause huge losses of both life and property and hence has to be always double checked resulting in consumption of more time.
