Ans 1
Mitochondria membrane is made up of 2 layers i.e inner and outer. The outer membrane is a phospholipid membrane that covers the mitochondria and inner membrane folds to create cristae. The function of mitochondrial is to generate energy from food and nutrients.
The lysosomal membrane is a single phospholipid bilayer that is semipermeable. The fiction of lysosomes is to break down and recycle.
Chloroplasts have two membranes that protect the inner parts of the chloroplast. The inner membrane surrounds the stroma and the grana in the chloroplast. The function of the chloroplast is to conduct photosynthesis by absorbing sunlight and use it with water and carbon dioxide gas to produce food for the plant.
The nuclear membrane is made up of two lipid bilayer membranes that surround the nucleus. A nucleus containing the genetic material.
Ans 2
Steps in gram staining
1. Prepare smear and heat fix slide (Transparent bacteria i.e no colour)
2. Add crystal violet that will stain the Gram-positive bacteria - purple.
3. Add Grams iodide that won't stain the cell
4. Add ethanol or acetone for decolourization
5. Add counterstain safranin that will stain the Gram-negative bacteria - pink.
