THE AGA KHAN and CENTRAL CLINIC

The Aga Khan Hospital is a private health organization owned by the Aga Khan family that provides health services to locals and outsiders. The Central Clinic is a public health facility owned and financed by the government to provide health services to locals.

The Central Clinic provides health services to more public members compared to the Aga Khan considering the health charges. Both health facilities provide primary health services which include diagnosis and treatment, counseling and psychotherapies, scanning and interpretation and admission of patients to wards for further checkup.

Political policies:

i. Free health care- the political players are currently laying out policies where each citizen will receive free primary health services.

ii. Health insurance- also the political players are making policies where each employer should make sure that employees have health insurance to cover for secondary health services.

iii. Free medication- the political class has also scrap the medication charges for certain diseases including HIV/AIDs and any sexually transfer diseases.

Potential policies:

i. Free cancer scanning- this will enable those needing cancer scanning to obtain for free which will greatly help those nurses who have been in dilemma to provide scanning to poor families who cannot raise the amount for scanning.

ii. Insurance to apply in both private and public hospital- this policy can greatly help those patient who have been denied services in private health facilities since their insurance is only for public hospitals.

iii. Working time- this policy will provide a substantial working platform for nurses who have find themselves working up to 16 hours per day causing fatigue and low delivery.

Levels of prevention

i. Primary Level:

It involves the preventing of disease at susceptibility level. Where an individual is susceptible to a certain disease, a nurse is involved in this stage for creating awareness to the community on the mechanism that can be applied to prevent infection of certain diseases.

ii. Secondary Level:

This involve the clinical stage of prevention, where the disease is detect and prevented to spread to all other part of the body or other people. At this stage the nurse role is to isolate the patient or administering the required medication to prevent the spreading of the disease.

iii. Tertiary Level:

It is another clinical stage of prevention where the patient is administered with medicines to prevent more pain or death. The role of the nurse in this level is to provide the medicines for prevention.
