Post a brief description of factors that might influence and create distortions of memory. Then explain how one of those factors might create a memory distortion. Provide an example to support your response. Finally, explain three consequences of memory distortion in the context of eyewitness testimony.
The memory distortions influenced by many factors because the memory can be defined with biological perspectives as well as psychological. As we know various biological factors can affect the memory distortion, as age, health, exercise etc. here we will talk about these factors.
1- Age: The age is a very important factor which affects memory every step of life, the adult hood came with some memory problems and at the age of 45, we started to loss our memory neurons.
2- Health: The health is also plays very crucial role about memory issues. The mental health as well as physical health is very important for brain ability. People suffering from chronic health problems and stress, depression faces memory distortion.
3- Drugs: long term use of drugs, alcohol, cannabis etc. affects memory and some time can caused for memory distortions. Mental ability is also affected by drugs or substance uses so that we can see a long term effects on the memory, especially LTM and STM.
The eyewitness testimony of memory loss and memory distortions can be seen by various situation, people suffering from memory distortions may experience the problem in social adjustment and social interactions.
1- An old lady who was suffering from memory distortions, experienced many problems in individual life because she experience problems in behaviour.
2- A army man who experienced a long time war stress showed memory distortion, sometimes he forget to wear clothes and shoes, he experienced many social problems.
3- chronic diseases like diabetes, cardio-vascular problems, physical problems also creates stress and depression which increase the risk of memory distortions.
