Define fugacity and fugacity coefficient. Also, use these to write expressions for the chemical potential for a real gas. Describe how the fugacity coefficient, if known, is used in equilibrium constant calculations. Also, write down in your homework at the end of this problem’s answer that Dr. Campbell will generally use the words “activity” and “activity coefficient” in place of “fugacity” and “fugacity coefficient”, respectively, to describe real gases.
Write there too that the activity coefficient, gi, just equals the fugacity coefficient, and the activity equals: ai = gi(Pi/P0).
