Briefly discuss the various styles that can be used to handle conflict. Which is your choice and give an example of how you have used that style of conflict management.
Conflict resolution styles:
1. Competing: It is the most powerful approach to win or defend your current position. It simply represents the factor that to win at all cost.
2. Accommodating: The approach is to keep others need first by putting less importance on self-interest.
3. Avoiding: This style represents not to accept the presence of conflict or somehow withdraw it. It basically intends towards the ignorance of the self-needs and other needs.
4. Collaborating: It is the resolution factor where the issues are discussed and it seeks to obtain a final resolution by mutually coming to a valid conclusion.
5. Compromising: If the issue remains complex, it basically seeks for a partial win with little concessions on each side.
The best choice is “collaborating”.
Example: While working in the organization many factors involved that determines the conflict in a team. A team completes the entire work by the constructive creative ideas which vary from one to one. The conflict is, of course, a factor which slows down the process of work. The collaborating conflict management works like a resolution solver, the teammates along with the group leader mutually talk with each team members and finally obtains the decisions which suit the best needs. The team collaborates with each other and gives their work performance accordingly.
