You are writing a letter to advise a claimant as to whether or not their claim has been accepted. What type of information must be included in the determination letter? Provide at least eight examples.
Suppose this is a claim by a son (claimant) for his father’s bank balance, who died intestacy --- the person died without making any will of distribution of property.
In such case, the claimant has to provide sufficient proof of relationship with the deceased in connection to his claim.
The bank should inform whether the claim is accepted or rejected. In this case we assumed that the claim is rejected.
The determination letter must include the following information:
The reason behind such disqualification or rejection of claim must be informed to the claimant through such letter. Such reason must be very specific so that there should not be any doubt in the mind of claimant.
Examples of reasons:
No.1) Inadequate proof of establishing relationship between the claimant and the deceased
No.2) Claimant doesn’t have identity proof for address verification.
No.3) The application of claim must be supported with no-objection certificate of each heir, which was not supplied.
No.4) The court paper of affidavit of claimant is not supplied.
No.5) All the details of application form are not duly filled-up.
No.6) Since the amount of claim is very large, there must be a surety – the person gives guarantee behind such payment. This was not supplied by the claimant.
No.7) Names and ages of brothers and sisters of the deceased are missing in the application form.
No.8) Declaration of a person who knows the claimant and his family is missing – it proves that the claimant is genuine.
