Where is Ammonia found/made. How is it bad for plants. How is it good for plants.
Ammonia is a colorless gascontain pungent odor.
It is both manufactured and also produced naturally by bacteria, decaying plants and animals, and animal waste.
In its natural form, ammonia is found in water, soil, and air,
and is a source of nitrogen for plants and animals. The chemical
formula for ammonia is NH3.
When ammonia is manufactured, it is primarily used to make
fertilizer. It is used to manufacture synthetic fibers, textiles,
pulp and paper, pesticides, explosives, smelling salts, cleaning
products, rocket fuel, fuel cells, and some foods and
beverages.
Manufacture of ammonia:
The Haber Process combines nitrogen from the air with hydrogen derived mainly from natural gas (methane) into ammonia. The reaction is reversible and the production of ammonia is exothermic.
In Industries ammonia used in metal treating and chlorine water treatment. Ammonia is also used in the rubber industry to stabilize raw latex and in the petroleum industry to protect equipment.
Ammonia use in plants:
Ammonia is present in soil, water and air, and it is an important source of nitrogen for plants.
Nitrogen promotes plant growth and improves fruit and seed production.
It's also essential for photosynthesis, which is the process in which plants convert light energy into chemical energy.
How ammonia bad for plants:
Ammonium toxicity occurs when there is too much ammonium available for plant affects plants by discoloring, burning of the roots and necrosis. it also effects the germination and development of seedling in soil.
