The National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) cyber security framework was issued by the President of the United States on 12th February 2013 as an Executive order to leverage the country’s security of the critical infrastructure which in turn will create ecosystem of efficiency, privacy. In addition to it, coordination and collaboration methodology was developed in between the government and the provide sector players in order to address and manage the risks involved and the business requirements in a cost effective way (www.nist.gov.com, 2014).
The purpose of NIST cyber security framework is to deliver a policy in which the private multinational organization can evaluate and assess their capability on how to prevent, detect and respond to cyber-attacks. Moreover, with such initiative taken by the country will in turn help the organization to be well equipped with cyber security training etc. In regards to the approach taken by the framework helps the private organization helps in viewing guidelines and understanding the characteristics on how to manage the risk associated.
Another critical aspect associated with cyber security framework is the goal to establish the plan of action for eliminating the risk linked with organizational and sector goals. However, to prioritize the scope of the cyber security framework is to identity the business requirement as per the actual scenario and adapt and support the requirement, associated systems and assets (www.nist.gov.com, 2014).
