Briefly, summarize the topic and cite your sources. Do not just give us links to the topic; it should be presented in such a way that the reader does not need to do research. Depth is better than breadth. Your mini-essay should also contain a paragraph relating your topic to the chemistry concepts we've learned in lecture material, for example - discuss a balanced reaction, the chemical structure of the materials involved in the type of water remediation, acid-base chemistry, etc. In your 2nd to last paragraph (before your conclusion), write how the topic impacts either your daily life or your perception of the world.

Water Pollution In Peru

With the development of the world, the environmental issues also developed and became a big issue in present in Peru. Water pollution one of the big environmental related issue in Peru. The major source of water pollution in Peru is from industrial waste, sewage disposal, and oil related waste. Peru has 1746cubic unit (cu) km of renewable water resources. Nearly 86% of total water is used for farming and cultivation and 7% in the industries. Mainly 87% in urban and 62% in rural areas have the access to clean water resources in Peru.

From the chemistry point of view, the metals and solvents from industries react with lake or river water and contaminate it. Pesticides are used for farming also pollute the ground water and also create problem to aquatic life.

Petroleum is also a big chemical pollutant that usually contaminates water through oil spills when a ship ruptures. Oil spills usually have only a localized affect on wildlife but can spread for miles.The oil contaminates the water which affects the aquatic life or marine life.

Pesticides + water (solvent) --> Pollute more area (because solvent can move to many areas)

And from industrial waste:-

Fe(OH)3 + H3PO4 --> FePO4 (ferric phosphate)+3H2O

2Fe(OH)3 +3H2S --> 2Fe2S3 (ferric sulphide) + 6H2O

According to research data, nearly 3 million tons of waste (per year) is created in Peru. The honorable president "Alan Garcia" has started a campaign "water for all" strategic program, which proposed about the investment of 185 water pipes and sanitation projects.

Since we know that the contamination and the pollution of lake and river seriously affect the health of those who depend on it. According to Oxfam report, more than 50% of Peru's rivers are extremely polluted in North of the Chillon, Yauli, and Mantaro in the central region and also in the Chili river in the South.

Water pollution not only affects the human's life but also affects the marine life. And only human beings are the responsible for all the problems so only we have to find the problems and solve it as soon as possible. People have to make some awareness program to aware each and everyone in Peru about this big issue and meet their hand to solve this problem.
