Two-Way Within-Subjects ANOVA
A hypothetical study investigated whether the tempo and scale of music can differentially enhance mood. Participants wore sound-canceling headphones through which four different types of music were played to each participant: music with a slow tempo-minor scale, fast tempo-minor scale, slow tempo-major scale, and fat tempo-major scale. After listening to each type of music, participants rated their change in mood on a scale from -3 (more negative mood) to +3 (more positive mood), with 0 representing no change in mood. The order in which music types were played was counterbalanced. The table below lists the data for this hypothetical within-subjects study. Test whether music tempo and scale influenced mood change at a .05 level of significance.

There is a significant main effect of Tempo. (F (1, 28) = 7.806, p = 0.009 > 0.05)
There is no significant interaction effect. (F (1, 28) = 3.161, p = 0.086 > 0.05)
