Lets say you are a person who wants to persue a career in project management but you are not sure if that's really what you want and you are given and chance to meet with a project manager.
Please compile 10 questions to use in an interview with a project manager. These questions must give a clear understanding whether you want to pursue this project management career or not
I will ask the following questions:
1. Please describe the day in the life of a project manager?
2. What are the key activities that a project manager involves himself/herself in?
3. What is the career growth path of a project manager?
4. Given my education background and work experience, do you think project management will be an appropriate career path for me?
5. What is an alternate career I can pursue if not project management?
6. What kind of remuneration does a project manager with your experience draw? A range will give me a good indication to benchmark with other job profiles
7. Can this profile lead to other career options in the future? for example will I be able to move to a CXO role say 5-7 years down the line?
8. What is a typical team size you work with?
9. What kind of challenges are faced by you? Please help describe a couple for me
10. What is the biggest job satisfaction today for you?
