Information Systems encompasses the entire system of people, processes and Information Technology which is implemented by a firm to manage and support their operations. Implementation of information systems require three dimensions to be looked into - Management, Organization and Technology.
Management is critical for decision making related to product or service which includes the technology that needs to be pursued, the strategies based on the data and its analysis etc.
Organization element includes both people and processes. People are the resources who implement the information systems and use on a daily operational basis while processes are the procedures that drive the operations.
Technology is the hardware and software part of the IS implementation. It defines what needs to be implemented and how.
Once the business requirements for implementing information systems are identified and decision related to the information system and its future maintenance is taken by the management, the technological aspect is looked into based on which the right features and applications are implemented by establishing processes and involving people. A risk management strategy and a backup plan should be established as well to avoid data loss, operational interruption and loss of business hours for the firm while reducing the overall costs associated to the risk.
