1- what is the formula to find the approximate depth of a concrete slab that measure 180' long X 110' wide (Feets)?
[[let said that I have two of them (same length and wide, and one have have 4" thickness and the other 6" (inches)? ]]
2. What types of concrete slabs are better to use in residential, commercial, and one story store buildings?
please explain clearly, thank you.
Generally in residential and commercial buildings we use one way slab or two way slab.
Now what is one way slab?
The answer is one way slab is the slab which is supported by the beams on the two opposite sides to carry the load on one direction. In one way slab, the ratio of longer span (l) to shorter span is equal or greater than 2. In this reinforcement are provided in one direction only. So if we want to make our construction economical we can provide one way slab.
Now what is two way slab?
The answer is two slab is the slab which is supported by beams on all the four sides. The ration of longer span to the shorter span is less than 2.
The design of the these types of slabs includes main reinforcement in two ways or 2 directions.
For one storey store room we can use flat slab
Now what is flat slab?
The answer is the flat slab is a two-way reinforced concrete slab that usually does not have beams and girders, and the loads are transferred directly to the supporting concrete columns.
The reason to provide flat slab in single storey store room as we need more area in astore room so if we construct a flat slab so there is no need to provide columns at different places which can save the space.
