In this lesson we discussed how to incorporate awards and recognition into your résumé. Please explain why highlighting these accomplishments can differentiate one person’s résumé from another. In doing so, briefly provide examples of how you can use your awards and recognition to differentiate your résumé from the résumés of other candidates.
Providing inaccurate information in the resume or job application may cost dearly in future. It is a risky strategy which, may prove to be more harmful than not getting a job. It is important to provide accurate information in the resume as your past performance determines the future performance and if you are not able to perform as per your description in the resume then you may be fired and it will ruin your reputation when applying for the new one. In addition to losing your current job, you may find it more difficult to find future employment because you have a termination for cause on your employment record. You may not be able to sue your employer, even if your employer has violated your legal rights.
Highlighting awards and recognition in your resume help attract the attention of the employer who has been fed up of finding similar resumes of potential clients. This helps differentiate your resume form others. This shows how have you solved problems and add value to the company. Such rewards and recognition included in the bold category head of honors/awards in your resume will demonstrate your contributions. This may give you an additional benefit of getting selected for the job with a higher compensation than other candidates.
