Introduction
Several Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) have been working at the sheer grass root levels to extend education to underprivileged children in India. Since independence, NGOs have beentrying hard to strengthen the existing education system and network in the country so that more and more children get opportunities to go to school and remain there. The best thing about NGOs is that they work at the grass root level, connecting with the masses and spreading awareness on the importance of getting good education to march ahead in life
1) NGOs have an important role to play in supporting women, men and households, community groups, civil society groups and expected that they can meet the welfare
2) NGO provides counseling and support service, awareness raising and advocacy, legal aid and microfinance. These services help the people to achieve their ability, skill and knowledge, and take control over their own lives and finally become empowered and self-reliance
3) NGOs play important role to promoting community self-reliance and empowerment through supporting community-based groups and relying on participatory processes
Yes NGO also give education to children and need persons
Follwoing activities are performed by NGO to Educate people
1. Organization of literacy, post literacy and out of school education programmes;
2. Organization of saving and credit groups;
3. Organization of income generating programme to poor people through skills training;
4. Learning materials development and publication;
5. Capacity building of local organizations;
6. Organization of seminars for awareness building among the community people.
7. Monitor to the grass root organizations and service organizations; 8. Organization of training, seminars, workshops, meetings etc.

Teach for India (TFI)
Shaheen Mistri’s, the founder of TFI, believes that only a people’s movement can ensure children’s quality education. Since 2009, TFI identifies and recruits bright candidates as fellows every year. Fellows commit to teaching low-income schools for two years. They enable the holistic development of students, and also make an impact on the school and community through their initiatives. Today, it has grown in scope and reach with a focus on high quality, low cost, and replicable interventions which addresses the lapses in the education system. With a mission of ‘Every child in school and learning well,’ the organization has addressed several issues such as learning levels, dropout rates, child rights, and teacher training. Their programs focus on education, vocational training, technology, vulnerable children, and research and advocacy. Notably, it’s research and assessment unit publishes the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), which is the only annual source of data on children’s learning outcome in the country today.
