2. Marx and Mill both thought that there were historical forces blocking the full development of human freedom. How are their views of freedom (and secondarily history) different? What do Marx and Mill want people to be free from? What did each thinker think that freedom was for? You can refer more to Marx in the answer if you prefer. **
Mary wollstencraft says that the public and private spheres perpetuate women's oppression because women gain less education. Both spheres are interelated and they perpetuate oppression by thinking women are irrational ,who exist only for beauty and procreation and worst of all it was considered justified. Famous thinkers such as Aristotle further claimed misogynistic views. Mill said that it was perpetuated by public spheres of the past which were not catching up with the times of the modern era.
2. Both favoured freedom and view of freedom according to Mill was that society can interfere into a persons freedom when he causes harm. While marx supported the view to overthrow the rich class and let the society intervene when a person tries to get private property.
Marx argued that the rich class were impeding freedom, whereas mill thought masculine society was causing hindrance.
Freedom was an end in itself according to both of them as it led to development of individuality and progress of the society as a whole.
